Millets have been an integral part of our diet for centuries. In addition to a plethora of health benefits, millets are also good for the environment with low water & input requirement. With the aim to create awareness and increase production & consumption of millets, United Nations, at the behest of the Government of India, declared 2023 the International Year Millets. To commemorate this, MyGov is hosting various interactive activities around Millets like:
Workshops: Educational sessions on the nutritional benefits and environmental advantages of millets, aimed at farmers, nutritionists, and the general public.
Public Awareness Campaigns: The government is running educational campaigns to raise awareness about the nutritional benefits and environmental advantages of millets. This includes advertisements, social media campaigns, and public events.
Integration into Government Schemes: Millets are being integrated into various government schemes, such as the Public Distribution System (PDS) and mid-day meal programs in schools, to ensure that these nutritious grains reach more people.
